A key to success is proper installation. First, ensure thread compatibility (e.g., NPT, BSP). Always deburr the pipe and clean threads thoroughly. Apply sealant tape or paste in the correct direction (clockwise when viewing the male thread) and avoid over-application, which can cause contamination inside the valve. Hand-tighten first, then use wrenches to achieve a secure fit—typically one to two turns past hand-tight—without over-torquing, which can crack the fitting.
