What is a Press-Fit Coupling?
Its function is to extend or repair pipes when two sections need to be joined or when a damaged section is replaced. One end connects via press-fit while the other may have a threaded transition, and a special tool is used to crimp it into place, achieving a secure and sealed connection.
What Scenarios Require a Press-Fit Coupling?
Pipe Extension – When a pipe is not long enough
During pipeline installation, if a single pipe is too short, a press-fit coupling is used to connect two pipe sections to extend the length. This is commonly seen in bathroom hot and cold water lines or balcony water supply pipes.
Pipe Repair – When a pipe is damaged
When a leak or damage occurs in the middle of a pipeline, the damaged section is cut out. Two press-fit couplings are then used together with a new section of pipe to complete a quick repair, eliminating the need to replace the entire pipe run.
Exposed or Concealed Piping Construction
In water supply, gas, and HVAC systems for residential, commercial, and hospital projects, press-fit couplings are used for straight-line connections. They enable fast installation without the need for open flames, making them ideal for on-site construction.
Branch Lines from the Main Pipeline
Although primarily used for straight connections, when used in conjunction with tees, press-fit couplings are also used for branch line layouts after extending the main pipeline.

Types
Single Press-Fit Female Thread Coupling: Used at pipe ends to connect equipment with male threads, such as faucets, valves, water meters, and water heaters.
Double-Press Equal Coupling: Also used for connecting pipe ends to threaded equipment, but the double-press design provides a more secure seal and stronger pull-out resistance.
