Working principle

The flow of media is controlled by rotating the ball 90°.

A through-hole with the same diameter as the pipe is located in the center of the ball. When the handle or actuator rotates the ball 90° until the through-hole aligns with the pipe axis, the media flows freely without obstruction, the valve is fully open, and the flow resistance is almost zero. When the ball rotates another 90° until the through-hole is perpendicular to the pipe, the solid spherical surface completely blocks the passage, the valve closes, and reliable shut-off is achieved.

The American Standard Flanged Ball Valve adopts a bidirectional sealing design, allowing the media to enter from any direction without flow direction restrictions. Soft seals (PTFE/PPL) achieve zero leakage, while hard seals are suitable for high temperature and high pressure.
